Introduction to Microsoft Azure

Speaker: Chris Myers

Let's get together and take a business driven approach to learning Azure.  First, we will fully explore the answer to the important question: "Why cloud?"  In this section, we will clarify why Azure is a perfect tool for modern businesses by looking at some enterprise metrics and industry rationale.

Next, we will embark upon answering some other common questions many people have about Azure:  "What offerings are there?"  "How user friendly is it?"  "Who is using it?"  "How secure is it?"

This session will be a great introduction for those new to Azure, but will also provide an up-to-date refresher for even the most seasoned cloud veterans.

All Things Azure Websites

Speaker: Rob Richardson

Come join us for a demo-laden discussion of Azure Websites.

We'll publish a new website and database, git deploy the site, customize deployment to run tests, add a custom domain name and SSL, add a supporting service as a web job, and add Azure queues to communicate between the site and the service.  Whether experienced in Azure or new to the cloud platform, you'll see the simplicity, power, and elegance of Azure Websites.

A Lap Around Azure Storage Tables & Queues

Speaker: Joe Guadagno

Azure provides scalable, durable cloud storage, backup and recovery solutions for any data, large and small. It works with the infrastructure you already have to cost-effectively enhance your existing applications and business continuity strategy, and in addition, provides storage required by your cloud applications including unstructured text or binary data such as video, audio and images.

Let's take a look to see how we can leverage, Blob Storage to store large amounts of unstructured text or binary data like photos. Use Queues to provide a reliable messaging system that allow implementing scheduling of asynchronous tasks and implement persistent messaging along with Tables to store unstructured data like file logs.
